"Art in Himalayas 2026" International Art Exhibition begins

Kathmandu, Jan 19. Nepal Academy of Fine Arts-Institute in collaboration with the Department of Contemporary Painting, Department of Multidimensional and Other Creative Arts and Essence of Mulryani, the ‘Art in Himalayas 2026’ international art exhibition has started from Tuesday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chancellor of the Academy, Naradamani Hartamchhali, and the Head of Essence of Mulryani, Lora D. Murphy.

At the program, the Chancellor of the Academy, Naradamani Hartamchhali, said that this exhibition will further support cultural exchange with the artwork of artists from Nepal and abroad.

Sanjay Bantawa Rai, Head of the Department of Contemporary Painting of the Academy, said that the exhibition includes paintings from the Himalayas and Terai, from Eastern images and myths, and that it will also establish international brotherhood.

Irish artist and Head of Essence of Mulryani, Lora D. Murphy, said that Nepal has loved her very much since the moment she first came to Nepal 30 years ago, and expressed her gratitude to all the artists participating in the exhibition.

Curator of the exhibition, Pradeep Shakya, said that the language of art is a powerful medium of communication and that the exhibition also includes experimental art from Nepal and other countries.

The exhibition has more than 80 artworks by 15 foreign artists from Nepal, America, Australia, Britain, Denmark, Canada and Ireland.

The program was attended by Kiran Manandhar, former chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, officials of the academy, Dilli Tuladhar, Nepal coordinator of Essence of Mulryani, along with senior and new generation artists, representatives of various organizations, journalists and others. The exhibition will run until Magh 1.
