Kathmandu,February 7. Former King Gyanendra Shah, remembering the day on Falgun 7, 2007, when the king and the people established democracy together, expressed serious concern over the current situation in the country. On the occasion of Democracy Day, which was restored 75 years ago, former King Gyanendra Shah issued a message of greetings to the countrymen yesterday.

In the message, former King Shah paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, His Majesty Tribhuvan, known and unknown martyrs, and all those active for democracy. He also expressed gratitude to the people of the valley who welcomed him when he returned to the capital after his stay in Jhapa, stating that it "inspired him with a sense of responsibility."

The former King said that in the current situation, the country is caught in an unnatural cycle of chaos and that the country's identity and existence are in danger. He said that there is a need to introspect on what the various movements and changes that took place in the past have given to Nepal and Nepalis.

Our enemies are poverty and instability, but we have strengthened the unwanted culture of considering one Nepali as an enemy of another,' he said, 'due to which the country has reached the deepest painful situation in history today.'

He urged to put a complete end to the politics of mutual hatred and conflict and promote a political culture of harmony and unity. In the context of the upcoming elections, the former king said that it would be appropriate to move towards the election process only after resolving national problems. 'It would have been on the right path to go to the election only by making a national consensus and an understanding that includes everyone, keeping in mind that there should be no conflict, unrest and disputes after the elections,' he said.

Expressing concern over the growing trend of seeking only rights but not thinking about duties, he opined that the country can be given a new momentum only through a sense of duty to work together, not by thinking of 'taking turns and eating'. Former King Shah said that only a system and system that suits the ground reality of Nepal will give sustainable results and emphasized that we should move forward by highlighting the good aspects of the world.

As always, the former king, who concluded his message by saying, "May Shri Pashupatinath bless everyone," had previously called out to "Shri Gorakhnath" in his previous message.
